Take Action
Want to do more?

To shift the election debate on climate, Canadians must send an urgent and powerful message to the candidates in their communities. We have created a toolkit with a step-by-step guide on how to take action in your riding.

Join us! There are a number of simple and fun actions that you can take to make your voice heard -- from connecting with like-minded activists in your area, to questioning your candidates directly. Click on headings below to find out more, or download the full toolkit.

  • Your local candidates want to hear from you! Parties pay attention during election time. They want to know what's important to you – and they want to convince you that their party is the one to vote for. Make sure your local candidates know that climate change is an issue you feel strongly about.

You can contact your local candidate directly at an election event, at their office or online - and share your stories with us via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram by using the hashtag #iVoteClimate (or #VotonsClimat, in French). Our toolkit gives you sample questions to use and more info on how to track down your local candidates! Download the toolkit now and join the conversation on Greenwire.

  • Over the election period, candidates will be attending many election events. They want to meet people like you who live in their riding, hear about your concerns and convince you to vote for them. All-candidates debates give you a chance to get to know each candidate, ask them tough climate questions in a public forum and shift the election debate.

Our toolkit gives you sample questions to ask and links to download flyers and placards to help you get your message across! Share your questions and your candidates' responses with us via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #iVoteClimate (or #VotonsClimat, in French). • An image can draw attention to climate issues, inspire others to take action and speak a thousand words! At an event, at your door, or on the street - take a photo of yourself with your message with or near your local candidates or party leaders. Get creative by pulling out your sign last minute or uncovering a hidden message on your shirt!

To make this action even simpler, our resources also enable you to print your own signs or t-shirts. Don't forget to share your photos via via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram by using the hashtag #iVoteClimate (or #VotonsClimat, in French).
