PROMISE BROKEN, YET AGAIN.
DELAYED: The demand for a Free and Fair Gram Sabha has hit another road block!
The administration in Singrauli is finding all sorts of excuses to delay the village meeting. Latest events indicate the Gram Sabha which was meant to happen between 16th and 22nd August, has been postponed indefinitely. The Mahan Sangharsh Samiti (MSS) is demanding the Sabha in all 54 villages which depend on the Mahan forests.
Promises broken. Livelihoods at risk.
Is buying time pointing to something fishy?
The companies are waiting for the final mining lease from the state government, once it goes through - 5 lakh trees will be cut to mine coal! 50000 livelihoods are relying on these forests!
We need you to urgently write to Jual Oram, the Minister of Tribal Affairs at the Centre, and ask him pressurise the local administration to conduct the Gram Sabha.
Email the Tribal Affairs Minister asking him to ensure a free and fair Gram Sabha.
