Protect Bengaluru’s Bus Priority Lanes!

To,
Directorate of Urban Land transport

Bengaluru is losing its only bus lane! Despite accounting for less than 1% of the city’s vehicles, buses transport nearly 50% of the commuters. They are our tools to fight urban air pollution, unlike cars that are accessible to only 20% of the citizens, but occupy 3/4th of the road space.

Bengaluru’s Bus Priority Lane(BPL) had substantially improved the bus travel experience by reducing travel time, easing the stress on drivers and making the bus a more convenient option. A clear win-win situation in the fight against air pollution!

Removing the bus lane is a highly undemocratic move.

Bus Priority Lane is an absolute necessity for a sustainable city.

We, the undersigned, hereby demand that the Directorate Of Urban Land Transport

  • Protect Bengaluru's first Bus Priority Lane along Outer Ring Road
  • Scale up the Bus Priority Lane to 11 corridors as promised in the Comprehensive Mobility Plan(CMP)

Building bus lanes is insuring our future in safe, sustainable cities.
