Why is this important?

The UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate legally requires car companies to sell more electric vehicles (EVs) every year, or pay a fine.

This mandate is working - driving prices down and helping more people buy electric cars.

But after heavy pressure from some car makers, the UK government is seriously considering weakening the mandate. If the lobbyists succeed it will mean more climate pollution, and keep us stuck on expensive petrol and diesel.
