OMV, you are not welcome here. This is your eviction notice.
We the undersigned, demand that you immediately cease oil exploration and drilling in New Zealand.
It is an abomination that you seek to continue your dangerous search for oil here when you have known for 30 years that burning oil and gas threatens the future of life on Earth.
And when the people of Aotearoa New Zealand have so clearly said no to more oil and gas development.
Thousands have marched in the streets, walked in hikoi, risked arrest in civil disobedience, signed petitions and written to the Government to protest oil and gas exploration in this country.
Our Government has responded by saying they will no longer grant new oil and gas exploration permits.
Your drilling would risk oil spills that would threaten the livelihoods of our coastal communities, and areas rich in wildlife: dolphins, whales, penguins, albatross, seals and sealions to name a few.
These are risks we are not prepared to let you take.
We will continue to peacefully resist any company that continues to search for these harmful and outdated fuels in the seas of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Everywhere you hold permits - in Taranaki, in the Pegasus Basin off the Wairarapa coast, and in the Great South Basin, we will resist you in defense of our oceans and the world’s climate.
Relinquish your permits, do not come here, we will not stand for it.
