NO DRILL, NO SPILL

KEEP OIL DRILLING OUT OF THE BIGHT AND OFF OUR BEACHES

Shocking leaked documents from oil giant Equinor show a spill from its proposed oil drilling site in the Great Australian Bight could wash up on beaches as far north as Port Macquarie.

Imagine Bondi, Bells Beach or Wine Glass Bay smothered in toxic black oil. Drilling in the Bight just isn’t worth the risk.

The Australian Government has the power to stop this from happening and permanently protect the Bight from oil drilling - but the ministers need to know it’s a top priority for all of us.

TAKE ACTION. EMAIL THE ENVIRONMENT MINISTER NOW.

A SPILL IN THE BIGHT WOULD BE DEVASTATING

A spill could kill thousands of unique sea creatures, like rare southern right whales, native Australian sea lions and the incredible leafy sea dragon, which only lives in the Bight. The Great Australian Bight has more unique marine life than the Great Barrier Reef, with 85% of the Bight’s animal species found nowhere else in the world.

Traditional Owners, coastal communities and thousands of people working in harmony with nature would be affected.

Equinor’s well would be drilled in water twice as deep as the Deepwater Horizon well, making any problems much harder to fix. Oil drilling in Bight is just too risky.

To Melissa Price, Environment Minister, and Tony Burke, Shadow Environment Minister:

I am overwhelmingly opposed to oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight. I call on you to provide permanent protection from oil drilling for the Bight.
