Join us in sending a strong message that offshore oil drilling is not welcome here.
New oil exploration off the Otago and Taranaki coasts by Austrian oil giant OMV risks catastrophic oil spills in New Zealand’s wild and pristine waters.
Oil spills threaten the livelihoods of our coastal communities, our delicate marine ecosystems, and the precious wildlife that lives in those waters.
These waters are alive with with a multitude of rare and endangered species, including dolphins, whales, penguins, albatross, seals and sealions.
We’re in the middle of a climate emergency. And OMV is one of just 100 companies that have caused more than 70% of the world’s climate emissions. We simply cannot afford to seek new oil to burn.
Through years of relentless pressure, we won a ban on new oil exploration permits. Now OMV is the last major oil company left with existing permits. Just as we resisted Petrobras, Chevron, Statoil, Shell and others before them, we must now resist OMV until all oil exploration in New Zealand comes to an end.
Sign on now to demand that OMV give up their oil and gas exploration permits.
Thanks for signing!
Now, will you share this urgent petition with your friends? The more people who sign, the more pressure OMV will feel.
