Tell Boris Johnson: act on the climate crisis and phase out dirty vehicles by 2030
Breaking: activists have driven toy cars under the gates of Downing Street towards Number 10 - to urge the Prime Minister to phase out new petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars and vans by 2030.
We’re in a race against climate catastrophe that we’ll lose if the government doesn’t get polluting vehicles off the roads as fast as possible, as these are responsible for around one-fifth of all carbon emissions in the UK.
But swapping the petrol and diesel cars on our roads for electric just won't be enough. The government must also make it easier for people to get about without a car by reducing road traffic, boosting public transport, and improving walking and cycling infrastructure.
It’s time the Prime Minister takes the climate crisis seriously. Tell him.
