Local media is incredibly important. Because of the numbers of readers, it’s a place that MPs go to find out what people care about and it’s not a tactic they’re used to.
The idea behind this action is that by getting an authentic letter into every local paper in the UK, we’ll send a powerful message to MPs who will realise that ocean protection is a priority for local people and put pressure on the government.
Some things to consider:
- You don’t need to be an expert
- Writing from personal experience is really powerful, especially if you are from the coast or are part of a sustainable fishing community in any way
- Keep it short. In fact, no more than the text on this page
- We’re going to include some facts and questions to help you write
- You can get help from Greenpeace’s trained Media Network, email [email protected] if you’d like to take part in a zoom training
