There is No ‘Safe’ Level of Air Pollution Exposure

To the Central Pollution Control Board,

On 22nd September 2021, the World Health Organisation (WHO), updated its air quality guidelines for the first time in 15 years. The new guidelines are based on scientific proof that even short-term exposure to low levels of PM2.5 and PM10* is linked to a higher risk of lung cancer, cardiac and brain diseases.

We have no choice but to breathe this toxic air every day.

Scientists have made it clear that India’s current air pollutant levels are unsafe. We must heed their warnings. There is NO ‘SAFE LEVEL’ of exposure to pollution.

We demand immediate action from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to revise India’s National Ambient Air Quality Standards.

Air pollution is costing us our lives. We demand our right to #CleanAirNow
