The Cambo oil field would produce 170million barrels of oil and deepen the climate crisis. In the last two weeks Shell have dropped out and the energy firm behind it have announced it is pausing the project. The government is increasingly isolated in backing this new oil field.
Experts say there can be no new oil and gas beyond this year. We need a just transition for oil and gas workers into renewable energy and clean technology instead. The government must act now - Cambo doesn’t make economic sense and it’s a disaster for the planet.
